Hollywood Paradigm

Gary Shandling testified at the Anthony Pellicano trial that: Brad Grey, his then manager, called him at home and threatened that Grey "would make my life miserable."

Isn't this the absolute truth of Hollywood, that the person who was supposed to represent Shandling's best interests, as his manager, instead never had Shandling's best interests at heart.

Putting the crisis in Hypocrisy

As you should have read, NY Governor Eliott Spitzer has been found to connected to a sex ring. In reality, he is a just a high priced John. What was most infuriating is the hypocrisy as he has prosecuted others to the full extent of the law for the same acts he committed. In honor of the Governor's hypocrisy, I started evaluating my own hypocrisy and I concluded that I should no longer tell my wife to not leave the wet towels on the floor.

As a former prosecutor, I actually have prosecuted Johns in Inglewood. If I was a defense attorney, I would be having a field day for any client caught as a John as if the Governor can do it and probably still go about his business, why can't everyone else.

I started analyzing would it have been any different if he hadn't been so adamantly against these types of crimes. It seems to be yes. Anyone with a holy than thou attitude usually is cheered when they fall down a peg or two. If Spitzer hadn't made such a big deal in prosecuting these crimes, it would have been news worthy, but people may not have cared as much.

Therefore, I guess another lesson learned would be unless you can actually walk on water, don't go diving in the deep end.

Chapter Two

Okay, for someone to stop blogging for over a year is pretty pathetic so I won't make any excuses. Luckily, I kept the website active and appreciate people that were still viewing the site even after I left. I have a somewhat valid excuse in that my wife and I had a baby this past year, Dana Mollie Treitel, born August 23, 2008 and the writers strike definitely knocked the wind out of me. In any event, I have thought about blogging for a while but was using my free time playing Wii. Although Mario has been advancing, I felt empty inside. After a breakfast with uber-blogger Ester Kustanowitz, I decided to actually blog a little bit.

Well you have to start somewhere.

In any event, I have grandiose plans to actually create a new episode/short/television show. More information will be coming sometime. I will use this page as a way to write about issues that are on my mind, and get the wheels turning again.

A few random thoughts. I had my fortune read over the holidays and the teller stated that I should actualize my dreams -- hence -- and I shall better explain in another post the reason why I want to create something. I spent many days/months/years writing television specs that will never see the light of day. Everything that I create at this point will be to be seen or to be actualized. [If anyone wants to read a hysterical Happy Days spec, written with Shoe Schuster, where the concept is that what if Happy Days continued form the 50's to the 80's email me and I'll pdf, right now it's sitting in cyberspace anyway.]

I definitely don't have time to read other people's blogs nor check out other people's Facebook pages. You know, I kind of wish there was Facebook when I had done Situation Comedy, it probably, might have helped. Things really change in a few years. One thing that has changed was that I was one of the first to have a Blackberry, now it's so commonplace, not that I feel I needed to be ahead of the curve, it's just a fact of life that what was once "cool" is commonplace. The blackberry is about as sexy as a typewriter.

Okay even if I don't blog or post as often as I used to, it will still be on average better than once a year.

Look, life is about time. Right now every minute is important. It may be important to you to not read what I wrote but it is worth my time, to me at least, to write this. To get the creative juices flying again.

This is the beginning of Chapter Two of MarkTreitel.com.

Thanks for scanning.

Brad and Jen Destroy Celebrity Marriages for everyone

Okay, after the recent spate of celebrity separations and divorces ... from Jessica Simpson to Paris to Nicole Richie... I'm pointing the finger squarely at Brad Pitt dumping Jennifer Aniston. Once this Hollywood marriage that couldn't be broken was busted -- all bets were off. Now it's cooler to be separated than actually getting married. Hence Matt Damon's non publicity wedding. Perhaps he's ashamed he hasn't ended it yet.

Alyson Hannigan -- where are you?

I heard through an actor friend that Alyson Hannigan is a HUGE FAN of Situation Comedy and SPERM DONOR. (She went off how much she liked our sitcom recently).

If anyone can contact her -- tell her we appreciate it and we'd send her a copy!

Back in the saddle

Sorry for being out of it. Of course I probably lost all my daily readers... but I was working on a script for a long time and used all of my free time.

I promise to try harder and write again more often!

Cowboy President About To Send Wild Horses to the Slaughter House

In the latest blog on Huffington Post, best selling author Deanne Stillman discusses the Republican revocation on the ban on slaughtering wild horses.

This is an issue not touched upon by the media.

Here is an excerpt from the post:

For the second time this year, the party led by a guy with a cowboy hat is about to send horses to the slaughterhouse - in spite of huge public opposition that cuts across all lines. The first time, Republican Senator Conrad Burns from Montana reversed 34 years of federal protection for the wild horse with a stealth rider attached to the 05 federal appropriations bill, legalizing sale of mustangs in government pipelines to the lowest bidder.

Because of the Burns rider, 41 wild horses were immediately sent to the rendering plant, with thousands more on the way. After a hard-fought battle that went on for months, the rider was recently undone with the passage of an anti-horse slaughter amendment attached to a different piece of legislation, the 05 Agricultural Appropriations bill, by Republican Senator John Ensign from Nevada and West Virginia Democrat Robert Byrd. The 68-29 vote was overwhelmingly in favor of stopping the slaughter of horses in American plants - from which their meat was often shipped to France, the country Republicans ran against in the last election.
But now Republicans are once again trying to wipe out the horse they rode in on. Some members of the Agricultural Appropriations Subcommittee (which includes Burns, now linked with Jack Abramoff and named one of the 13 most corrupt Congressmen) are planning to strip the anti-horse slaughter language from the bill, by 4 pm on October 25th, before it leaves a committee conference and heads for Bush's desk. This would relieve the beleaguered Texan from having to deal with legislation that enrages his Big Beef cronies, while simultaneously revoking the reprieve for thousands of mustangs on equine Death Row, many of them stolen by the feds in semi-legal takings on public lands this summer and in past years - and open up the pipelines for continued round-ups until the day comes that the range is completely bereft of our heritage.

Strangely, Texas prides itself on mustang mojo. Yet Bush's homeland has two of the three remaining
horse slaughter plants in the US. And they are all about to get very busy, just as they were decades ago, when hundreds of thousands of horses roamed the Texas range. Today there are NONE, thanks to Dallas cowboys who cleared them out to make room for burgers on the hoof. Not content with taking over the second biggest state in the Union, the cattle lobby now wants the rest of the West - and it's as close as ever to getting it.

To head these horse thieves off at the pass, visit this site NOW and call the listed members of the appropriations subcommittee IMMEDIATELY, especially your representatives, and more especially, those who voted for the amendment; let them know that the Ensign-Byrd amendment must stand - especially since it already passed by a huge margin. With Bushco about to go down, they should not be permitted to take horses with them. For more about how our ranch hand President is riding the American mustang off the stage, please check my recent blogs on this site - here and here - and also my Slate piece for a deeper analysis, as well as Senator Byrd's impassioned anti-slaughter statement. By the way, I love cowboys as much as the next red-blooded American gal, but a cowboy who hates his horse has got to go.

UPDATE: The latest action info, as per the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros:

Please call all the CONFEREES below even if they are not in the state that you reside and ask them to support the above amendment to stop the slaughter of horses in our country. Ask for the staff assistant who is working on the Agricultural bill.

Breaking News: Bush resurrects Renquist

Minutes after Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination for Supreme Court Justice, the White House announced that they were nominating Chief Justice Rehnquist to fill the position.

Vice President Cheney personally dug up the grave of the recently dead Chief Justice and presided over the Ninja-Voodoo ceremony that raised the deceased back to life.

President Bush was pleased with the results of the Zombie Rehnquist who had two specific orders: overturn Roe v. Wade and to not eat human brains.

The White House has possible plans to institute Resurrection as a national policy to lower the death toll in Iraq, create a Zombie National Guard and resurrect all of the Civil War Southerners to ensure the Republicans maintain their voting lead over the next 100 years.

Rehnquist is expected to be confirmed by early next week but may have to recuse himself if the ACLU sues on behalf of the living against the newly resurrected. Also at issue are Rehnquist heirs who are pissed they have to "give shit" back because he's no longer dead.

How many more must die?

Today, US Military deaths reach 2,000 in Iraq.

I think it doesn't matter what side of the issue you are on, to feel compassion for the loss to our nation, and ther personal loss to families.

The question is will we see the headline:

Today, US Military deaths reach 5,000 in Iraq?

Today, US Military deaths reach 10,000 in Iraq?

Today, US Military deaths reach 20,000 in Iraq?

Can anyone really give an answer.

One thing is for certain, we would not be in Iraq but for President Bush's assertion that Iraq had nuclear weapons.  The only way we geared up to rush into war was because of impending doom.

Hence, the connection to uranium cakes in Niger, Dick Cheney and Victoria Plame.

The Cheney-Libby conversation occurred the same day that The Washington Post published a front-page story about the CIA sending a retired diplomat to Africa, where he was unable to corroborate intelligence that Iraq was trying to acquire uranium yellowcake from Niger. The diplomat was Wilson.

A year after Wilson's trip, President Bush cited British intelligence in his State of the Union address as suggesting that Iraq was pursuing uranium in Africa.

Today, US Military deaths reach 2,000 in Iraq.
